Ami is a 10 year old, 16 hands high Clydesdale Quarter Horse cross mare. Ami has been ridden all across Alberta and British Columbia. She has been ridden many years in the back country, including the Willmore Wilderness, Ya Ha Tinda, Fort Assiniboine, just to name a few, on many multi day trips. She has experience carrying dogs on her back over high fast flowing rivers, assisting wagon teams slug through the mud using a dally up on the saddle. She is trained to pull logs out of the bush for the evening fire camp and ponies other horses like a champ. I have been using her for years to assist me in breaking green horses or pull the kids in the sleigh. We have used her for ski-joring around the ranch too! Ami has also competed in competitive trail in the heavyweight division. She placed first in her very first race!
Ami is easy to catch, bath, tack-up, load, and handle. Although Ami is gentle and safe for most beginners to ride I would recommend her for an intermediate rider as she has a lot of buttons installed and can be quite forward. She will walk slowly on a loose rein or she can move on out if you ask. She has three speeds of trot and can maintain them for extended periods of time. She has a smooth lope and to be very honest it is not fast. She will stop with little effort, back up and she neck reins very well. Ami was my personal horse for the last 6 years. She has been trail and bombproof trained by myself exclusively. She has been ridden around ranch equipment, ATV’s, over large noisy tarps and has also had guns shot off of her back.
Just like everything we say about our horses, we have the videos to prove it, make sure to take a look at those on our website. No matter where she goes or what she does, Ami is not spooky acting. On the trails she is always great! Ami has been exposed to all kinds of wildlife such as deer or moose, beavers and buffalo or other animals like cows or dogs and will go anywhere that she is asked too. She has been ridden many miles in the mountains of the Canadian Rockies and encountered every obstacle possible on the trail. Ami has been to countless poker rallies and always was a great example of our training program. She will go up or down even the steepest slopes, across deep creeks, over downed trees, and over all types of rough terrain while still being sure footed. You will never run out of power with this girl. She has been ridden in traffic, and is very traffic safe around cars, semi, log, and dump trucks. She has a great personality and a great attitude about whatever she is asked to do.
